YUCAIPA, CALIFORNIA (March 25, 2017) (Map) – Almost four dozen people fell sick at a Christian Campground on Oak Glen Road and Clearwater Drive in Yucaipa on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m., at a dinner that was hosted by the Oak Glen Christian Conference. Campers at the conference began falling ill; experiencing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Medical techs responded to the scene and attended to 20 sick victims and 13 people were later rushed to the hospital.
The Health Department was called in and was required to shut down the camp and evacuate patrons from the building. The Health Department is investigating the cause of the illness and will be doing interviews of the people who inspected the conference center as well as questioning patrons of the conference.
The conference center received a grade letter A, with a 98 score out of 100. The food served was listed as “herb roasted chicken, salad, chocolate chip cookies, green beans, and rice pilaf.”
“Police will gather evidence and conduct interviews with the victims and witnesses to determine liability” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Any injured party involved in a food poisoning incident will have a bodily injury claim against the negligent party/entity who caused the incident.”
