WOODLAND, CALIFORNIA (January 14, 2017) – Eduardo Mares Jr and Diana Mares were both injured in a collision with a drunk driver on Saturday morning on West Street, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 1:20 am at the intersection of West Street and Kentucky Avenue. 26 year old Eduardo Mares Jr and 25 year old Diana Mares were traveling southbound on West Street in a blue Ford Mustang. A 50 year old man driving under the influence of alcohol was driving westbound on Kentucky Avenue in a Chevrolet Cruz. The two vehicles collided in the intersection after the Chevrolet Cruze allegedly failed to stop at a red light, sending the Cruze into a parked Chevrolet Suburban nearby.
Eduardo Mares Jr was trapped inside the Mustang and had to be extricated from the vehicle. Eduardo and Diana Mares were both rushed to UC Davis Medical Center in unknown condition. The drunk driver, identified as 50 year old Mario Guerrero, was found unresponsive and was rushed to the same hospital. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
“It’s unfortunate that motorists under the influence disregard the negative effects that may ensue from driving under the influence. Drunk drivers continue to endanger the safety of all other drivers,” said a California car accident and personal injury attorney.
