The accident happened around 6:30 pm on Highway 299 near Blue Lake Boulevard. Yesenia Mireya Wood, a 26 year old woman, was heading westbound in a 2009 Toyota Sienna minivan along with her five children. A 2013 Chrysler Town and Country minivan carrying a 55 year old man, a 53 year old woman, a 23 year old female and a 24 year old man was heading eastbound at the same time. For an unknown reason, Yesenia Wood’s Toyota crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided head on with the Town and Country.
Yesenia Mireya Wood suffered major injuries in the accident, and tragically her unborn child was pronounced dead. The 53 year old woman from the Chrysler was also killed, and remains unidentified. The 55 year old driver of the Chrysler, Kevin Loren Orcutt, along with his two passengers 23 year old Stephanie Capoeman and 24 year old Thomas Perry, all suffered major injuries. Four of Yesenia Wood’s children suffered major injuries, and one suffered moderate injuries. One child was airlifted to a local hospital after the accident.
The investigation is ongoing at this time, but initial reports indicate the 53 year old woman killed may have been the wife of Kevin Loren Orcutt. The accident remains under open investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
