“High Speed Crash”
WINNETKA, CALIFORNIA (July 13, 2017) – A woman motorist was involved in a fatal high speed collision with three vehicles Roscoe Boulevard near Irondale Avenue early Thursday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division. (map)
the accident occurred at approximately 2:05 a.m. when a driver of a Dodge Challenger, later identified as 28-year-old Miguel Mejia, was traveling on Roscoe Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The Challenger collided in to a Subaru Impreza and then into a Ford Escape sending the vehicle east, according to LAPD.
The Escape then hit a curb and street sign and finally colliding into a tree and utility pole. The woman driver of the Escape was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mejia and two other passengers in the Challenger were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries, one victim was listed in critical condition. A fourth victim refused medical treatment.
It is that Mejia was under the influence of alcohol according to LAPD Capt. Andrew Neiman. An investigation is ongoing.
