WILLOWBROOK, CALIFORNIA (January 2, 2017) – At least one person was killed in a fire that started in a converted garage in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Willowbrook, according to local news sources. (map)

Firefighters responded to the scene around 3:30 am on Monday morning, to a home in the 2100 block of East 124th Street. A converted garage was found to be on fire.

After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters identified the body of an adult inside the wreckage. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released at this time. The investigation is ongoing as authorities attempt to decipher how the fire started.
