“Horse Carriage Accident”

WILLMAR, MINNESOTA(December 10, 2016) – The driver of a horse drawn carriage and several of his 15 passengers were injured in an accident on Saturday, according to a local news source. (map)

The carriage was part of the “Celebrate the Light of the World” light festival, hosted at the residence of Chad and Angela Koosman. The carriage was carrying 15 passengers to an area on the grounds known as Santa’s Den, when something spooked the horses, sending them bolting out of control. The driver of the carriage, Fred Zwart, suffered a heart attack at some point during the crash, as well as a serious back injury. The horses bolted for almost a mile before crashing into a basketball pole.

Fred Zwart suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized. Several others were injured in the accident and were hospitalized with various injuries. An investigation is ongoing into the accident.

“I wish a swift and steady recovery for all parties who were injured in this collision. Our prayers are with all subjects injured, their friends and families during such a difficult time,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law, a California personal injury law firm.
