WILLITS, CALIFORNIA (March 5, 2017) – A woman was killed on Sunday after she was involved in an accident on Highway 101, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 7:15 pm on the northbound side of Highway 101. A woman identified only as an 83 year old woman from Phoenix was driving north in a 2003 Toyota Camry at a slow rate of speed. She swerved off the road for an unknown reason and down an embankment, crashing into a culvert. The vehicle then launched into the air, ejecting the driver who was then struck by the vehicle as it rolled down the embankment.
The female driver was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical personnel. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
