Corey Kiefer and Jacob Zamora Arrested After Fatal Crash
WHITTIER, CALIFORNIA (December 16, 2016) – A 41-year-old woman was killed and several other people were injured, including the woman’s 11-year-old passenger, after a collision caused by illegal street racing on Colima Road near Mar Vista Street, reported the LA Times. (map)
The crash happened at 8:40 p.m. Friday on Colima Road just north of Mar Vista Street.
According to reports, a white Hyundai and a black BMW were traveling north on Colima Road at excessive speeds when one of the vehicles lost control and crashed into the other. Police believe the two vehicles were engaged in a street race.
The impact caused the Hyundai to cross over the centerline into southbound traffic and hit a Honda Accord.
Sadly, the driver of the Honda, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. Her passenger, an 11-year-old boy, also was taken to the hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
The driver and passenger of the Hyundai were transported to the hospital for unspecified injuries.
Police arrested Corey Kiefer and Jacob Zamora, both 22-years-old, on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving, and engaging in speeding contest
