Several People Injured After Large Tree falls on Them at Wedding Party

WHITTIER, CA- One person died and several others were injured after a large eucalyptus tree feel over at a wedding party at located at Penn Street. Emergency and fire crews were called in and had to use chain saws to cut away parts of the tree in order to free some of the victims. Investigators believe the weather and heavy rains might have contributed to the tree falling over. The Accident happened at around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday when the large eucalyptus tree fell over, killing the bride’s mother, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 100-foot tall tree trapped up to 20 other people. Five people total had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. One of the victims was a four-year-old girl who was reported to have sustained head trauma. One persona also had to be taken to the trauma center. Some injured members of the wedding party had to be taken to the Whittier Senior Center where they were helped and evaluated by mental health professionals in order to better cope with the situation. The accident is still under investigation.
