Large Tree Fell on Wedding Party

WHITTIER, CALIFORNIA (December 17, 2016) – One person died and at least 5 others were injured Saturday afternoon when a tree fell on a wedding party at Penn Park on Penn Street, reported KTLA. (map)

The incident was reported at 4:33 p.m. at Penn Park located at 13950 Penn Street.

Emergency medical personnel reported at least five people were injured, in addition to the one death.

They described most of the injuries as “minor”, with one described as “moderate.”

Investigators believe the eucalyptus tree’s weakness could be linked to the California drought.

This is a tragedy and important time for sensitivity and respect.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends as they cope with such a tragic loss,” said attorney . “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
