WESTMINSTER, CALIFORNIA (February 27, 2017) – A 17-year-old girl was identified as the woman killed in a tragic crash that is being attributed to street racing on the 22 Freeway, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident occurred around 4:50 am on the westbound side of the 22 Freeway near Knott Street. Two cars were seen speeding and possibly racing each other when one crashed into the center divider. A 17 year old girl exited one of the vehicles, and was struck by another car.
Laritza Escobar, 17, was identified as the woman struck and tragically killed by the car at the scene. The condition of others involved in the accident is unknown. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
