The accident happened around 7:30 pm near 4th Street. An eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train struck a male pedestrian, despite reportedly extensive efforts by the train conductor to warn the pedestrian of their approach.
The pedestrian, identified as 18 year old Tre Ertl, was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. The investigation into the accident is ongoing to determine cause and liability at this time.
