WASHINGTON, CONNECTICUT (February 28, 2017) – Two people were killed in a rollover accident on Route 202 on Tuesday afternoon, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened just after 12:00 p.m. on Route 202. 25-year-old Eric Johnson was driving on Route 202 with three passengers in his car, when he passed a State Police cruiser parked along the side of Route 202. He then accelerated, careening through a red light and then swerved to avoid another vehicle. He subsequently lost control of his car, causing it to go airborne off the road where it struck a tree and rolled down an embankment almost 50 feet.
25-year-old Alexis Schiappa, a passenger in the vehicle, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Eric Johnson, the driver of the car, was also killed in the accident. Two other passengers, identified only as males, were injured and hospitalized after the collision. The accident remains under active investigation to determine cause and liability.
