VISALIA, CALIFORNIA (February 14, 2017) – A school bus accident injured five people on Tuesday afternoon on Caldwell Avenue near Shirk Road , according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Caldwell Avenue, when a Dodge Charger rear-ended a pickup truck. The collision sent the truck into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a Visalia Unified School District bus. The impact sent the bus into a field and the truck burst into flames. The bus was carrying 27 students on board and four of the seventh graders were hospitalized. One adult was also injured, but it is unknown if they were on board the bus or inside the pickup truck.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
