VISALIA, CALIFORNIA (January 4, 2017) – According to the Visalia Police Department, 45-year-old James Wilhelm was struck and killed on Wednesday by a big-rig on Santa Fe Street and Sequoia Avenue, just south of Highway 198. (map)

The VPD reported that Wilhelm was sitting underneath a tractor trailer when he was struck by the truck around 2:14 p.m. The driver of the tractor trailer, 34-year-old Juan Negrete, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The VPD states that Wilhelm suffered a head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the collision is unknown and is under investigation.
