“Investigation Ongoing”

VERNON, CALIFORNIA (May 4, 2017) – Six people were hospitalized after an accident on Vernon Avenue on Thursday morning, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 1:00 am when a Dodge Neon heading westbound on Vernon carrying five people collided with a second vehicle heading northbound on Alameda. At least one of the cars reportedly ran a red light at the intersection.

Five people were trapped inside the first car, and the roof of the vehicle had to be removed using the Jaws of Life. All five were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the second car also sustained injuries and was hospitalized after the accident. The incident remains under active investigation, but the LAPD has ruled out DUI as a possible factor at this time.
