“Wrong Way Fatal Crash”

VENTURA, CALIFORNIA (July 26, 2017) – At least three people were involved in a wrong way collision on the southbound 101 Freeway near Seaward Avenue early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. (map)

CHP responded to the scene approximately after 12:03 am. regarding a report of a head-on collision on the southbound 101 freeway near Lemon Grove. Police officials found that the head-on collision was caused by a wrong-way driver. One vehicle was found over the side of a guardrail on Lemon Grove Avenue while another vehicle was a few feet north of the crash.

Rescue crews arrived to find the two mangled vehicles. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims were not yet released. No other details of the collision were immediately available. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and liability of the accident.
