VAN NUYS: Pedestrian Hit by Train and Killed on Raymer St

VAN NUYS, CALIFORNIA (November 20, 2017) – A pedestrian was struck by a train and killed on Raymer Street in Van Nuys on Monday, according to a report by the Los Angeles Fire Department. (map)

The accident happened around 5:50 pm in the 15100 block of Raymer Street. A female pedestrian in her 40s was struck by a Metrolink train for an unknown reason.

The female pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene as a result of the accident. Initial reports indicate the crossing is not equipped with pedestrian arms, or even a sidewalk despite it being along a small street. The accident remains under investigation.

“Almost one death or injury per day occurs on the rail system in the United States. Many of these tragic deaths are avoidable, the rail system is antiquated and needs a complete overhaul to ensure the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and train passengers,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law.
