VAN NUYS, CALIFORNIA (February 21, 2017) – A pedestrian was killed in an accident on Tuesday morning on Woodley Avenue and Leadwell Street, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 5:35 a.m. at the intersection of Woodley Avenue and Leadwell Street. A pedestrian identified as 85 year old Fidel Lopez was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle. Subsequently, the pedestrian was struck by a second vehicle which dragged the victim about 25 feet and then fled the scene.

Fidel Lopez was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical personnel. The first vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene, but the second immediately fled the scene. Authorities are attempting to find the second vehicle and to determine cause and liability in this tragic accident.
