VAN BUREN COUNTY, MICHIGAN (March 1, 2017) – Tiffany Glidden has been identified as the woman killed in a tragic accident with a train on Wednesday afternoon on 16th Avenue, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 4:00 p.m. near Grand Junction on 16th Avenue. A blue SUV was crossing the tracks when it was struck by a freight train hauling coal, traveling around 38-40 mph. There were no gates at this particular crossing.
Tiffany Glidden, a 47 year old woman, was identified as the driver and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Her backseat passenger, 14-year-old Sammy Glidden, was trapped in the car and had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life. Sammy suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Bronson Hospital, where he is reportedly in stable condition. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
