The accident happened around 7:30 pm at the Ohio State Fair. A ride called the “Fire Ball” malfunctioned, and witnesses at the scene say it was going too fast, causing at least one person to fly out. The ride operator then hit the emergency stop button, causing a chair section on the ride to shear off and fly to the ground.
18 year old Tyler Jarrell was tragically killed in the accident. Seven other people were injured, including three in critical condition. The ride has been shut down and an investigation is ongoing at this time.
