Two Children Killed in Accident Involving Police SUV

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (November 16, 2017) – Two children were killed in an accident involving a police SUV in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles, according to a local news source. (map)

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department SUV was responding to a call of a gunshot victim as it entered the intersection of South Indiana Street and Whittier Boulevard around 7:25 pm. Witness accounts are varied as to whether the vehicle had on lights and sirens at the time. As the SUV entered the intersection, it crashed into another vehicle. The impact sent the sheriff’s vehicle up onto the sidewalk in front of a Wells Fargo Bank, where it struck a mother and her two children.

One of the two boys struck was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was rushed to a hospital where he died as well. Their mother is in critical condition at the hospital as a result of her injuries. The accident remains under active investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
