TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA (February 24, 2017) – An infant was killed and four people were injured in a collision on Friday evening on the 5 Freeway, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 11:24 p.m. on the southbound side of the 5 Freeway, near Tustin Ranch Road. A dark colored SUV crashed into the center divider and then caught on fire. Several Good Samaritans stopped at the scene and attempted to extricate the people inside the burning vehicle, which also reportedly exploded at least partially.
An infant inside the vehicle tragically was pronounced dead at the scene. The other four occupants were rushed to Orange County Global Medical Center for treatment, and their current condition is unknown. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
