TURLOCK, CALIFORNIA (October 29, 2017) – A pedestrian was hit by a train and killed on Sunday morning on Golden State Boulevard, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 7:39 pm on the tracks near Golden State Boulevard and Fulkerth Road. A pedestrian was struck by a Union Pacific Freight Train for an unknown reason.
The pedestrian was tragically declared dead as a result of the accident. This was the latest in a string of train related accidents in Stanislaus County within the last week. On October 22, two fatal train accidents were reportedly in downtown Modesto and Turlock respectively, and on October 24th an Amtrak was involved in a fatal pedestrian accident in northeast Modesto.
Sunday’s accident remains under open investigation to determine cause and liability at this time. An initial investigation indicates that the crossing is equipped with lights and gate arms, but it is unknown if they were functioning or not at the time of the accident.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
