The accident happened around 10:00 am along West Drive near West 62nd Street. A woman pushing a stroller with two toddlers and carrying an infant strapped to her chest was beneath the tree when it fell.
The woman was knocked unconscious for several minutes before she woke up and immediately began asking about her children. A passing nurse and his wife were luckily on hand to help the victims, and all four were rushed to Cornell Hospital with serious injuries. There has been no response from the Central Park Conservancy as of yet regarding the tree.
