ROME, GEORGIA (June 16, 2017) – Tony Patterson has been identified as the man killed in an ambulance crash this morning on Martha Berry Highway, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 4:00 am on Martha Berry Highway near Rome. Puckett EMS was transporting 55 year old Tony Patterson from a nursing home to an ER for treatment. The ambulance veered off the road, striking two trees and a fence before flipping onto its side.
Tony Patterson was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the accident. The driver and the paramedic on board the ambulance were both injured in the accident, but are in stable condition. Initial reports indicate the ambulance driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel at the time of the accident. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
