SOUTH EL MONTE, CALIFORNIA (July 24, 2017) – 49-year-old Tiffany Chiali Yi Ching was involved in a big-rig collision on the westbound 60 Freeway near Santa Anita Avenue Thursday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. (map)

The crash occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. Yi Ching was travelling westbound along the 60 freeway in a 2018 BMW. A disabled tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder of the freeway near the Santa Anita off-ramp. Yi Ching made a movement to the right toward he Santa Anita off-ramp when she struck the right rear corner of the tractor-trailer, according to Officer J. Calder of the CHP’s East Los Angeles.

Rescue crews arrived at the scene. Yi Ching was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the big-rig suffered no injuries. An investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the collision.
