IRVINE, CALIFORNIA (February 17, 2017) – 13-year-old Teresa Johnston was hospitalized on Friday evening after a large tree collapsed onto her near Dewberry Way and Sandburg Way, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 5:00 pm. Teresa Johnston was walking through a neighborhood greenbelt near Sandburg Way and Dewberry Way, on her way to walk some dogs for her dog walking business, when a 40 foot tree collapsed onto the teenager.
Teresa Johnston was rushed to Orange County Global Medical Center with critical injuries, including brain trauma; her current condition is unknown. Over 50 people showed up for a candlelit vigil on Sunday evening to support the Johnston family.
The tree’s collapse is currently under investigation to determine who is liable for its collapse.
