VICTORVILLE, CALIFORNIA (February 18, 2017) – Two children were killed in a crash on Mojave Drive and Amethyst Road on Saturday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 8:30 pm at the intersection of Mojave Drive and Amethyst Road. A 2003 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on Amethyst Road, when it attempted to make a left turn onto Mojave Drive. A 1996 Ford Taurus traveling east on Mojave Drive then collided with the Elantra in the intersection.
10 year old Teresa Basua and 12 year old Pedro Basua Jr, two of the occupants of the Elantra, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The other three occupants of the Elantra, 35 year old Pedro Basua, 38 year old Gloria Basua, and an 11 year old child were all rushed to a nearby hospital. Two of the three occupants of the Taurus were also hospitalized. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
