Parent Driver Accidentally Ran Over 3 Students

TEHACHAPI, CALIFORNIA (December 15, 2016) – Three Tehachapi High School students were seriously injured Thursday afternoon after they were hit by an SUV in the parking lot of their school, reported Tehachapi News. (map)

The pedestrian accident occurred shortly after noon on campus at Tehachapi High School off of Dennison Road.

The students were walking on the west sidewalk in front of the school near Dennison Road when an SUV, driven by a parent, accelerated out of the parking lot.

A preliminary investigation revealed the parent accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake in her SUV.

One student, 15, was airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital in critical condition. The other two students, ages 14 and 16, were taken to San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield with moderate injuries.
