SYLMAR, CALIFORNIA (April 3, 2017) – A big rig was involved in a pedestrian accident on Interstate 210 on Monday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 12:07 pm on the westbound side of Interstate 210 near Roxford Street. A pedestrian was reportedly running across lanes when he was struck by a semi truck. There were also reports that the pedestrian may have been ejected from a nearby vehicle, possibly a Honda Civic.
The incident was marked as a fatality by the California Highway Patrol, however the report indicates that paramedics were attempting CPR on the pedestrian. The pedestrian’s current condition is unknown at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California pedestrian accident and personal injury law firm.
