“Fatal DUI Crash”
MANTECA, CALIFORNIA (June 25, 2017) – A 74-year-old motorist was involved in a vehicle collision on Highway 99 and the Lathrop off-ramp south of Stockton late Sunday evening, according to California Highway Patrol. (map)
The incident occurred just prior to 11:00 p.m. The motorist pulled over in a Dodge Caravan on the northbound off-ramp of Highway 99 to assist a family member who ran out of gas. The driver of a Ford F-150, later identified as 41-year-old Frank Scotty Richardson, suddenly went off the right shoulder and collided with the Caravan as the motorist was exiting the driver’s side of the vehicle, according to CHP officials.
The 74-year-old motorist was pronounced dead at the scene. Richardson fled the scene but was found later at his home. Richardson was arrested of felony DUI, hit-and-run, and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The identity of the 74-year-old motorist has not yet been released. No other details of the collision were immediately available.
