The accident happened around 8:20 am near the southbound side of Interstate 5 near Lyons Avenue. A white Chevrolet sedan with a paper plate from Keys in Van Nuys reportedly struck a pedestrian on the Lyons Avenue on-ramp to the southbound side of the 5 Freeway, then immediately fled the scene.
The pedestrian sustained unknown injuries in the accident, and paramedics rushed to the scene. The suspect vehicle was last scene on the southbound 5 driving around 70 MPH in the No. 1 lane. The accident remains under open investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California pedestrian accident and personal injury law firm.
