The accident happened around 2:47 pm at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue. A Nissan Murano and a gold Acura sedan were traveling southbound on Beach Boulevard when the two vehicles came into contact for an unknown reason. The impact sent the Acura careening over a sidewalk, where it struck a man in a wheelchair. The Acura continued over the sidewalk and crashed into a row of parked cars.
The man in the wheelchair, identified only as a 64 year old male, was tragically pronounced dead at a nearby hospital a short time later. The driver of the Acura remained on scene and cooperated with authorities, but there was no word on whether the Murano driver stayed or not. The accident remains under active investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
