SPRING VALLEY, CALIFORNIA (February 7, 2017) – A 75 year old man died on Tuesday evening after he was struck by a hit and run driver on Sweetwater Road, according to a local news source. (map)

A 75 year old man had just been dropped off by his daughter and was crossing Sweetwater Road near Tyler Street when he was struck by a vehicle heading northbound. The involved car then fled the scene immediately. The victim’s daughter saw the accident happen in her rear-view mirror as she was preparing to drive away.

The pedestrian, identified as James Martinez was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries. The authorities later located a damaged car believed to be linked to the accident nearby and arrested an 18 year old man identified as Andrew Thazen. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
