SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA (March 9, 2017) – John Robert Lano has been identified as the man killed during a tire changing accident on Interstate 85 on Thursday morning, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 9:30 am on Interstate 85 near mile marker 60, near Greer. 39 year old John Robert Lano was changing a tire on the side of the interstate when he stood up and reportedly stumbled slightly into a traffic lane, where he was hit by a semi-truck.

John Lano was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. The semi truck remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The accident remains under active investigation to determine cause and liability.
