Sitha-Gita Kalapatapu Killed in Small Plane Crash

BEVERLY, OHIO(July 8, 2017) – Sitha-Gita Kalapatapu was identified as the passenger killed in a small plane crash on Saturday in Ohio, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened sometime between 10:30 and 12:00 pm on Saturday. A Piper PA 28 flown by Sitha-Gita’s husband Umamaheswara took off from the Logansport Airport in the morning, then was reported missing a short time later. The plane was discovered by search officials just after 12:30 in a retention pond.

Both Sitha-Gita and Umamaheswara Kalapatapu were tragically declared dead at the scene as a result of their injuries. The accident remains under open investigation by the NTSB and the FAA.
