SIMI VALLEY, CALIFORNIA (January 1, 2017) – An off-duty police officer was tragically killed in an accident on Sunday morning on Cochran Street and Sycamore Drive, according to local news sources. (map)
The officer, identified as 30 year old Heather Monroe, was traveling as a passenger in a car heading south on Sycamore Drive when it collided with a car driven by an Uber driver, which was heading eastbound on Cochran Street.
Heather Monroe was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. The driver of Monroe’s vehicle was rushed to a nearby hospital, and the Uber driver suffered minor injuries and was also hospitalized. The passenger inside the Uber vehicle was uninjured. The investigation is ongoing.
