“Investigation Ongoing”
SEGUIN, TEXAS (August 17, 2017) – A man was killed on Thursday morning after an accident with a big rig on Interstate 10, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 7:00 am on the eastbound side of Interstate 10 near FM 775. A white Kia sedan crashed in to the back of a big rig that appeared to be parked on the shoulder.
The driver of the Kia was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, as authorities attempt to determine if the big rig had proper flares/reflectors laid out, and who is liable for the accident.
According to Texas State Law, big rigs are only allowed to pull over to the shoulder because of an emergency. They cannot pull to the shoulder to take a nap or eat a snack, and they always must use proper cones, reflectors, or flares to warn drivers. The circumstances of Thursday’s accident are unknown, but are under investigation.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
