“Pedestrian vs. Vehicle Collision”
SEBASTOPOL, CALIFORNIA (August 24, 2017) – A 27-year-old woman was involved in a vehicle collision while crossing Bodega Avenue Thursday morning, according to police officials. (map)
The accident occurred approximately after 10:00 a.m. when the 27-year-old woman was crossing the road at Ragle and Bodega Avenue and was struck by a silver Kia while in a wheelchair.
The woman was pushed approximately 75 feet from the point of he collision, according to Sebastopol Fire Capt. Steve Thibodeau. A witness heard the collision and went out outside and discovered that it was his neighbor who was hit by the Kia. The witness said she flew quite a ways over the other side of the street ad her wheelchair was in pieces.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the woman to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Kia, identified as a 79-year-old male, was shaken and did not appear to have suffered injuries. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.
The identity of the woaman and driver were not yet released. An investigation is on going to determine the cause and liability of the collision.
