SCOTIA, NEW YORK (December 15, 2016) – A 22 year old Pan Am Railroad employee had his arm cut off after it was run over by a train near Route 5 on Thursday morning, according to several local news sources. (map)
The accident happened around 5:00 am to an area near the Glenville Industrial Park, off of Route 5. A 22 year old man from Mechanicville was working near the train tracks when he slipped on some ice, causing his arm to land across a rail where it was run over by a Pan Am Railway Train.
The man was airlifted to a hospital to Albany Medical Center, and his condition is unknown. The arm was severed below the shoulder, and was rushed to the hospital along with the injured man. The investigation is ongoing into cause and liability.
