SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA (March 21, 2017) – A man was killed on Tuesday morning in an accident in a parking lot near 4th Street and Main Street, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 3:30 pm at the Civic Center parking lot in Santa Monica, between 4th Street and Main Street. A 21 year old intoxicated driver was traveling at high speeds when he entered the parking lot, striking a man in his 40s who was paying for parking at a kiosk. The impact was enough to throw the pedestrian up into the air. The 21 year old man immediately fled the scene, crashing into a parked car before fleeing on foot.
The pedestrian, identified only as a man in his 40s, was rushed to a hospital where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The 21 year old driver was apprehended, and identified as Absadi Kidane. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
