SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA (April 14, 2017) – A motorcyclist was involved in a vehicle collision on Highway 101 early Friday morning according to the California Highway Patrol. (map)

The incident occurred approximately before 2:00 a.m.on the northbound Highway 101 between Milpas and Laguna Streets. The motorcyclist was struck by a white Nissan SUV after being thrown from the motorcycle due to hitting a tire that was in the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol Officer Jonathan Gutierrez.

The motorcyclist sustained injuries, the severity of the injuries were not released. The motorcyclist was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment. Initial reports state that the motorcyclist was hit by a vehicle as he attempted to walk across the road way. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
