“Motorcycle vs. Vehicle Collision ”
SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA (March 6, 2017) – A motorcyclist was involved in a hit-and-run accident Monday afternoon on State Street and Las Positas Road, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department. (map)
The incident occurred at approximately 12:15. p.m. The motorcyclist, believed to be in his 50s, was traveling southbound on State Street. The driver of a northbound vehicle turned in front of the Ducati motorcycle. The motorcyclist struck the front right panel of the vehicle causing the motorcyclist to go over the top of the vehicle, according to Battalion Chief Mike De Ponce of the Santa Barbara City Fire Department. The motorcyclist’s identity and condition were not available.
The vehicle fled the scene, but an off-duty officer followed the vehicle. The vehicle later collided with another vehicle located on Las Positas Road. The vehicle then continued on to Treasure Drive, near the Samarkand retirement community, according to a Lt. Kenneth Kushner. Police officers were called to the location of the driver of vehicle, identified as an elderly man, for questioning. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of of the accident.
