SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA (December 28, 2016) – According to the California Highway Patrol, two people were severely injured on Wednesday in a wrong-way multi-vehicle DUI collision on the Interstate 280. (map)
CHP Officer Ross Lee reported that a Volkswagen Golf, driven by the 23-year-old drunk driver, was driving in the wrong direction on the southbound lanes of the I-280 around 3:30 a.m. and crashed head-on into a Chevrolet Aveo, driven by a 23-year-old Livermore resident. A BMW, driven by a 29-year-old San Jose resident, then crashed into the Volkswagen. The motorists were extricated with the jaws of life.
Officer Lee states that the 23-year-old wrong-way driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
“It’s unfortunate that motorists under the influence disregard the negative effects that may ensue from driving under the influence. DUI drivers continue to endanger the safety of everyone,” said a California car accident and wrongful death attorney.
