The accident happened around 8:35 pm in the 400 block of South Bascom Avenue, near Elliot Street. A pedestrian was struck by a car on Bascom, and the driver immediately called 911.

The pedestrian reportedly sustained major injuries and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene to tend to the injured pedestrian. The accident remains under investigation to determine cause and liability.

“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents.
