The accident happened around 4:05 am on the northbound side of the 280 Freeway near McLaughlin Avenue. A man was on the right shoulder changing a flat tire on his Honda van when he was struck by a Toyota Corolla that immediately fled the scene.
The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries, and his current condition is unknown. The suspect vehicle, a red 2006-2013 Toyota Corolla with front end damage is being located by authorities, who continue to investigate the accident.
“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California pedestrian accident and personal injury law firm.
