SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (February 9, 2017) – A car running a red light struck a pedestrian on Thursday morning on Scripps Poway Parkway, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 8:30 am at the intersection of Scripps Poway Parkway, in the 11600 block near Angelique Street. A 44 year old woman was crossing Scripps Poway Parkway from Angelique Street when a 4 door Mazda failed to stop at a red light and struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries including fractured vertebrae and a broken rib, and was rushed to Scripps La Jolla Hospital. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, and the accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California pedestrian accident and personal injury law firm.
