SAN DIEGO, California (January 18, 2017) – A male pedestrian was hit and injured by a vehicle last Thursday morning as he was getting out of his vehicle at 7:10 a.m. He was hit by the driver of a vehicle that was going eastbound on Abermarle Street. (Map).
The driver of the vehicle had somehow lost control and crossed over into the center median before side-swiping a parked car and hitting the pedestrian. The pedestrian was dragged by this vehicle for about 40 feet before the driver drove away from the scene.
Surveillance cameras nearby were able to catch the accident occur for a total of 10 seconds, before the driver drove away. According to the surveillance footage as well as police reports, the liable vehicle is a 1995-2001 Toyota Camry with a missing windshield wiper and driver’s side mirror.
An investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
