SAN DIEGO, California (January 18, 2017) – The accident occurred about 7:10 a.m. on Thursday morning, as a pedestrian was getting out of his car, he was hit by a driver that was driving eastbound on Abemarle Street. (map)
The driver had lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the center median, side-swiping a parked vehicle before hitting the pedestrian. the vehicle then dragged the pedestrian an entire 40 feet before driving away from the scene, leaving the pedestrian to die in the street.
Surveillance cameras nearby actually caught the suspect stopping to survey the scene and the dying victim for 10 seconds, before speeding away. According to reports, the wanted vehicle is described as a silver 1995-2001 Toyota Camry with a missing windshield wiper and driver’s side mirror.
An investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
